Sunan at-Tirmithiy كتاب الصوم باب ما جاء فى ليلة القدر
حَدَّثَنَا هَارُونُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الْهَمْدَانِىُّ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَةُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يُجَاوِرُ فِى الْعَشْرِ الأَوَاخِرِ مِنْ رَمَضَانَ وَيَقُولُ تَحَرَّوْا لَيْلَةَ الْقَدْرِ فِى الْعَشْرِ الأَوَاخِرِ مِنْ رَمَضَانَ. وَفِى الْبَابِ عَنْ عُمَرَ وَأُبَىٍّ وَجَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ وَجَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ وَابْنِ عُمَرَ وَالْفَلَتَانِ بْنِ عَاصِمٍ وَأَنَسٍ وَأَبِى سَعِيدٍ وَعَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أُنَيْسٍ وَأَبِى بَكْرَةَ وَابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ وَبِلاَلٍ وَعُبَادَةَ بْنِ الصَّامِتِ. قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى حَدِيثُ عَائِشَةَ حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ. وَقَوْلُهَا يُجَاوِرُ يَعْنِى يَعْتَكِفُ. وَأَكْثَرُ الرِّوَايَاتِ عَنِ النَّبِىِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم أَنَّهُ قَالَ الْتَمِسُوهَا فِى الْعَشْرِ الأَوَاخِرِ فِى كُلِّ وِتْرٍ. وَرُوِىَ عَنِ النَّبِىِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فِى لَيْلَةِ الْقَدْرِ أَنَّهَا لَيْلَةُ إِحْدَى وَعِشْرِينَ وَلَيْلَةُ ثَلاَثٍ وَعِشْرِينَ وَخَمْسٍ وَعِشْرِينَ وَسَبْعٍ وَعِشْرِينَ وَتِسْعٍ وَعِشْرِينَ وَآخِرُ لَيْلَةٍ مِنْ رَمَضَانَ. قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى قَالَ الشَّافِعِىُّ كَأَنَّ هَذَا عِنْدِى وَاللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ أَنَّ النَّبِىَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم كَانَ يُجِيبُ عَلَى نَحْوِ مَا يُسْأَلُ عَنْهُ يُقَالُ لَهُ نَلْتَمِسُهَا فِى لَيْلَةِ كَذَا فَيَقُولُ الْتَمِسُوهَا فِى لَيْلَةِ كَذَا. قَالَ الشَّافِعِىُّ وَأَقْوَى الرِّوَايَاتِ عِنْدِى فِيهَا لَيْلَةُ إِحْدَى وَعِشْرِينَ. قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى وَقَدْ رُوِىَ عَنْ أُبَىِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَحْلِفُ أَنَّهَا لَيْلَةُ سَبْعٍ وَعِشْرِينَ. وَيَقُولُ أَخْبَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم بِعَلاَمَتِهَا فَعَدَدْنَا وَحَفِظْنَا. وَرُوِىَ عَنْ أَبِى قِلاَبَةَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ لَيْلَةُ الْقَدْرِ تَنْتَقِلُ فِى الْعَشْرِ الأَوَاخِرِ. حَدَّثَنَا بِذَلِكَ عَبْدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ عَنْ أَبِى قِلاَبَةَ بِهَذَا.
The Messenger of God, peace and blessings of God be upon him, used to take up residence nearby (1) during the last ten days of Ramaḍān and used to say, 'Seek the Glorious Night of Determination (2) during the last ten nights of Ramaḍān.'" Footnotes: (1) i.e. he used to seclude himself in the mosque adjacent to his house, as a voluntary retreat for intensified worship. (2) The night during which the Qur'ān was first revealed to prophet Muhammad. It occurs on one of the last ten nights of Ramadan, though God only knows which. حَدَّثَنَا وَاصِلُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الأَعْلَى الْكُوفِىُّ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ عَنْ عَاصِمٍ عَنْ زِرٍّ قَالَ قُلْتُ لأُبَىِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ أَنَّى عَلِمْتَ أَبَا الْمُنْذِرِ أَنَّهَا لَيْلَةُ سَبْعٍ وَعِشْرِينَ قَالَ بَلَى أَخْبَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم أَنَّهَا لَيْلَةٌ صَبِيحَتُهَا تَطْلُعُ الشَّمْسُ لَيْسَ لَهَا شُعَاعٌ. فَعَدَدْنَا وَحَفِظْنَا وَاللَّهِ لَقَدْ عَلِمَ ابْنُ مَسْعُودٍ أَنَّهَا فِى رَمَضَانَ وَأَنَّهَا لَيْلَةُ سَبْعٍ وَعِشْرِينَ وَلَكِنْ كَرِهَ أَنْ يُخْبِرَكُمْ فَتَتَّكِلُوا. قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ .
Zirr Ibn-Hubaysh said, "I asked Ubaī Ibn-Ka'b, 'How did you know, Abā al-Munthir (1), that it (the Glorious Night of Determination) (2) is the twenty-seventh night [of Ramaḍān]?' He replied, 'Indeed, the Messenger of God, peace and blessings of God be upon him, informed us that, "On the morning following that night, the sun rises without emitting any rays." So we counted (3) and memorized it. By God, Ibn-Mas'ūd certainly knew that it is in Ramaḍān and that it is the twenty-seventh night; however, he disliked to inform you of that, lest you rely upon it (4).'" Footnotes: (1) This was the nickname of Ubaī Ibn-Ka'b. (2) The night during which the Qur'ān was first revealed to prophet Muhammad. It occurs on one of the last ten nights of Ramadan, though God only knows which. حَدَّثَنَا حُمَيْدُ بْنُ مَسْعَدَةَ حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ حَدَّثَنَا عُيَيْنَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَن ِقَالَ حَدَّثَنِى أَبِى قَالَ ذُكِرَتْ لَيْلَةُ الْقَدْرِ عِنْدَ أَبِى بَكْرَةَ فَقَالَ مَا أَنَا بِمُلْتَمِسِهَا لِشَىْءٍ سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم إِلاَّ فِى الْعَشْرِ الأَوَاخِرِ فَإِنِّى سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ الْتَمِسُوهَا فِى تِسْعٍ يَبْقَيْنَ أَوْ فِى سَبْعٍ يَبْقَيْنَ أَوْ فِى خَمْسٍ يَبْقَيْنَ أَوْ فِى ثَلاَثٍ أَوْ آخِرِ لَيْلَةٍ. قَالَ وَكَانَ أَبُو بَكْرَةَ يُصَلِّى فِى الْعِشْرِينَ مِنْ رَمَضَانَ كَصَلاَتِهِ فِى سَائِرِ السَّنَةِ فَإِذَا دَخَلَ الْعَشْرُ اجْتَهَدَ. قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ.
The Glorious Night of Determination (1) was mentioned in the presence of Abū-Bakrah who said, "I only seek it in the last ten nights [of Ramaḍan] as I heard the Messenger of God, peace and blessings of God be upon him, say, 'Seek it when there remains nine nights, when there remains seven nights, when there remains five nights, when there remains three nights or on the last night.'" Abū-Bakrah used to pray during the first twenty nights of Ramaḍān the same way he would during the rest of the year, but would strive [in his worship] in the last ten days.
